Watermelon Tourmaline Earrings with Sapphires

6.98ct Top Faceted  Watermelon Tourmaline earrings. Accented with White Sapphires set in 14ky yellow gold.

These Watermelon tourmaline earrings are accented with white sapphires. Both the tourmalines and the sapphires are set in 14kt yellow gold. The tourmalines have been top faceted and as a result the colors really shine. The settings were custom cast to emphasize the shape of the tourmalines.

Watermelon tourmaline is one of the few minerals which incorporates two colors; pink and green. Unlike bi-color which changes gradually from pink to green, watermelon tourmaline has pink that is surrounded by green. When creating earrings you have to find a piece that is large enough to slice it into two matching pieces. As you can see this pair is a perfectly matching set.

Furthermore, these tourmaline slices have been top faceted to give some additional depth to the color. The stones have been prong set in 14kt yellow gold. Lastly, the total carat weight is 6.78 ct.

Sapphires, unbeknownst to many people, come in every color in the rainbow. From deep rich blues, to greens and even fancy pink and purple tones. In this set, our designer has used white sapphires to accent the watermelon tourmalines. The total weight of the sapphires is .39 carats.

To give these earrings a little more movement the designer has put them on leverbacks. As a result the top faceted tourmaline catches light from all different angles. Secondly this movement enriches the pink color of the stone turning it into a vibrant pink.

These earrings are one of a kind and cannot be replicated. The 14kt yellow gold has been cast in the same shape as the slices to exaggerate their shape. The 14kt also helps to maintain it’s polish and is a stronger alloy than 18kt. Also, this allows for a stronger prong to hold in the larger Tourmaline slices.
