Gold Hummingbird Pendant
Our reversible gold hummingbird pendant features Tsavorite Garnets, Rubies, and Sapphires. The Garnets, Rubies, and Sapphires are set in 14kt White Gold.
This reversible hummingbird pendant is cast in 14kt white gold. On one side it is solid gold. On the other side it is set with rubies, sapphires and tsavorite garnets. This pendant is available in two sizes. This is the larger size of the two pendants. We also feature this pendant in 14kt yellow gold. The chain is not included in the price.
Rubies come in all different sizes and qualities. About the only consistent feature with Ruby is the deep, enchanting red that has made it so famous. Most of the time Ruby is faceted into a traditional gemstone. However, there are also star rubies, cat’s eye rubies, and even ruby slices. Ruby is part of the corundum family of gemstones. These are very hard minerals that work great for rings. The corundum family, interestingly enough, also includes sapphires.
Sapphires are part of the corundum family of minerals. In other words, sapphires are a very hard stone. Secondly, sapphires are a very bright stone. When people think of sapphires typically you envision a deep navy blue. However, sapphires come in a variety of colors. This includes white, pink, purple and even orange. Sapphires can be found in India, Sri Lanka, parts of Africa and even Montana. Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September.
Garnets come in numerous colors, but most people tend to think of Garnet as a deep red. Tsavorite garnets are incredibly bright. To give you an idea they have a higher score on the refractive index than emeralds. These garnets are sourced from Tsavo national park. Tsavo is located in south eastern Kenya.
This pendant would make a lovely gift. If you know somebody born in January, July or September this piece would incorporate their birthstone. Also, hummingbirds are a symbol of spring time.
